Chess.ai  ·  Effective date: May 5, 2026  ·  Last updated: May 5, 2026

Chess.ai ("we", "our", or "the app") is a chess game where you play against an AI opponent powered by Claude (Anthropic). This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

1. Data We Collect

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

3. How We Use Your Data

4. Third-Party Services

5. Data Retention

Game data on our servers is retained for as long as your account (anonymous ID) is active. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us at the address below — we will remove all data associated with your device ID within 30 days.

6. Data Storage & Security

Game history is stored locally on your device using SQLite. Server-side data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on a private server. We use HTTPS for all data in transit and follow industry-standard security practices.

7. Children's Privacy

Chess.ai does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app collects no personally identifiable information from any user, making it safe for all ages.

8. Your Rights

Because we only hold an anonymous device ID, there is no personal profile to access or correct. To delete all data tied to your device, contact us and provide your device ID (visible in app settings) and we will erase it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
